Balgarianovinite.com By October 31, 2025, the profit of the banking system in Bulgaria stood at BGN 3.1 billion, BGN 85 million (2.8%) more than the profit by the same date of 2024, the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Friday.
At the end of October, the assets of the banking system totalled BGN 208.2 billion, BGN 1.9 billion (0.9%) less than at the end of September.
By October 31, the liquidity coverage ratio was 234.4% (compared to 234.0% at end-September).
The liquidity buffer was BGN 53.3 billion, while net liquidity outflows amounted to BGN 22.8 billion (BGN 59.4 billion and BGN 25.4 billion, respectively, as of September 30).
At the end of October, gross loans and advances amounted to BGN 134.8 billion, growing by BGN 900 million (0.7%) on end-September. Claims on credit institutions decreased by BGN 421 million (3.6%) to BGN 11.1 billion, whereas the gross loan portfolio (non-financial corporations, households, other financial corporations and general government) increased during the month by BGN 1.4 billion (1.2%), amounting to BGN 123.5 billion. Loans to households increased by BGN 988 million or 1.8% (of which by BGN 749 million for loans collateralised by residential immovable property), and so did loans to non-financial corporations, by BGN 464 million (0.8%). Loans to other financial corporations and to the generalgovernments sector decreased by BGN 15 million (0.1%) and BGN 2 million (0.2%), respectively.
At the end of October 2025, the deposits in the banking system totalled BGN 175.9 billion, decreasing by BGN 2.2 billion (1.3%) from the previous month. The deposits of credit institutions decreased by BGN 3.6 billion (21.4%) and those of non-financial corporations by BGN 778 million (1.5%). During the month, the deposits of households increased (by BGN 1.8 billion, 1.8%), as did those of other financial corporations (by BGN 403 million, 9.0%) and of the general government (by BGN 22 million. (0.6%).
At the end of October, the total equity in the balance sheet of the banking system stood at BGN 25.5 billion, growing by BGN 262 million (1.0%) from end-September, due to the impact of an increase in the current profit and in accumulated other comprehensive income, the central bank pointed out.
