Comic Tim Dillon is not too worried about Zohran Mamdani becoming the next mayor of New York City — but he did not love his victory speech.
Dillon, during the latest episode of The Tim Dillon Show on Saturday, goofed on the 34-year-old democratic socialist for calling out President Donald Trump during his speech, shortly after he was elected the next NYC mayor on Tuesday night.
“He was a little cringe in his speech, because he’s like a theater kid,” Dillon said.
Dillon continued: “It was just a moment when you could see the theater kid in him. You could see that kind of cringe, you know that theater kid-like just very unappealing side of him. Hopefully he keeps that at bay.”
He was referring to the point in Mamdani’s speech where he told the president to turn up the volume and said, “Hear me: to get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.”
Trump, the following day, said he found Mamdani’s speech to be “dangerous” and “angry.”
Dillon’s “theater kid” dig may not be accurate, though. Mamdani has ties to the entertainment world — his mom is filmmaker Mira Nair, and he had a brief stint as a rapper — but there are no reports he performed Shakespeare on stage.
Perhaps there was some confusion, after The Washington Free Beacon reported earlier this week that Mamdani’s top strategist, Morris Katz, is a “nepo baby theater kid.”
Dillon then continued sharing his thoughts on Mamdani’s win over Andrew Cuomo (D) and Curtis Sliwa (R).
The Long Island native said Mamdani “obviously” won because “people don’t have money. It’s pretty simple.”
“Here’s my attitude with this guy: there’s a lot to not like. But if it does not work, I will just leave, because I do not care,” Dillon added.
He also said he was skeptical that NYC will turn into a lawless wasteland, like some of Mamdani’s critics have suggested, because he has supported defunding the police and closing down Rikers Island, among other left-wing ideas on crime.
“I don’t think we’re going to have rapes on every corner. I hope not,” Dillon said. “But if we do… I’ll stay for a few months, because it’ll be interesting, you know.”
Then, Dillon said, he’ll “skedaddle.”
