California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) dared podcast giant Joe Rogan to “invite” him onto The Joe Rogan Experience podcast “any time” after the comedian mocked the Democrat as a “bullsh*t artist” and claimed he “ruined” Los Angeles and the state.
Rogan, who endorsed Donald Trump in 2024 and hosted him on his podcast while he was on the campaign trail, slammed Newsom on Wednesday as he spoke with former Navy SEAL and author Jack Carr.
Musing the Democratic Party’s 2028 strategy, Rogan laughed as he remarked: “They don’t have any faith in Gavin Newsom, which is kind of funny cuz he wants to be president so bad.”
Rogan, a former California resident, went on to attack the governor’s record: “You can’t ruin a city and then go on to ruin a state and say, ‘Guys, that was just practice. Once I get it as a president, I’m going to fix it. Fix it all.’”
“I mean, it’s so crazy, but he’s such a great politician. He’s so smooth,” Carr replied.
But Rogan rejected the idea: “No. I think he’s terrible… there’s no one who’s good who’s competing against him. There’s no sincerity… I mean he’s a good bullsh*t artist… The things that he says when he gets confronted: ‘We have the highest this and the highest that.’ Like everybody’s leaving! You have the highest unemployment. You have the highest homelessness. What’s the name of Hollywood? You have money missing. You killed Hollywood. Like Hollywood doesn’t exist anymore. It’s literally gone. Mandated vaccines for kids that didn’t need them. You guys, he did horrible sh*t.”
The clip of Rogan went viral in MAGA circles online before Newsom hit back on X, using a chicken emoji to mock Rogan and listed California’s economic achievements, arguing the state is “#1 in manufacturing, farming, new business starts, tech and VC investments, Fortune 500 companies, [and] public higher education.”
“Invite me on any time,” Newsom concluded, with a smiley face emoji.
Neither Rogan nor his representatives have yet responded to Newsom’s challenge.
