Balgarianovinite.com Bulgarian historians, archaeologists and public figures will officially present an appeal for a celebration of the 1400th anniversary of the founding of the Bulgarian state in 2032. This will take place on December 3 at the National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), as part of the national initiative “14 Centuries of Bulgaria in Europe”, organized by Bulgarian National Television (BNT), BTA, Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
In their letter, they point out that, in the year 632, the Bulgarian tribes under the leadership of their ruler Kubrat laid the foundations of their own statehood. “Combining the achievements of the traditions of the great empires of that time with their own Bulgarian customs, their state-building aspirations produced significant results in Europe – several states, one of which still exists today. In the words of the great leader of the Bulgarian people in modern times, Vasil Levski, this state has taken its place alongside the other European nations”, the appeal states.
The historians and public figures go on to say that it is their duty to preserve and strengthen the historical memory of the Bulgarian people and they call upon the Bulgarian public and state to solemnly commemorate this significant anniversary: 1,400 years since the establishment of the Bulgarian state – a particularly important anniversary requiring appropriate celebrations, scientific conferences and campaigns to preserve the cultural heritage of Bulgarians in Bulgaria and around the world.
The appeal has been addressed to President Rumen Radev, National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, and the ministers of culture, tourism, foreign affairs, and education and science.
