Chris Cuomo blasted liberals arguing that the left is less violent than the right following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
On his Chris Cuomo Project podcast, Cuomo blasted both sides as being in a race towards the “bottom” as they get caught up in debates on which side inspires more political violence. Cuomo argued such left vs. right arguments are meaningless and politically “convenient” in the wake of a tragedy like the recent assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Cuomo mocked liberals arguing the left is less violent than the right and referred to the ADL (Anti-Defamation League) claiming in their data that “right wing extremist violence is more frequent and more deadly than left-wing violence.”
On top of Kirk’s murder, a shooting this week at a Dallas, Texas ICE facility has put more of a spotlight on political violence. Though the investigation is still under way, officials have pointed to early evidence suggesting the now-deceased shooter who killed one person and injured too others was inspired by negative feelings towards ICE and the country’s immigration system.
“This game of the battle to the bottom of which side is worse — you guys are literally debating who’s more violent, the right or the left. “There is no statistical evidence that the left is anywhere near as violent in politics. The ADL, everybody” — that’s your argument?! Right after Charlie Kirk was shot in the neck by a guy who thought he was standing up for his trans lover? He just shot him in the neck!” Cuomo said.
The NewsNation host further argued that it’s about “clickbait” and “convenience” when both sides argue over which of them has more extremists on their side.
“You’re going to make the case that it’s all about the right? How stupid do you have to be? It’s not about stupidity. It’s about convenience,” Cuomo said. “You’re so desperate for clickbait. You’re so desperate to be relevant, to be in the mix that you say whatever is going to get you the clicks. Change the game.”
