Don’t bet on J.K. Rowling and Emma Watson grabbing some popcorn and binging Harry Potter flicks together anytime soon.

Not after Rowling went off on the “ignorant” actress in a blistering X post on Monday in which she said Watson, due to her wealth and fame, will never have to deal with the consequences of trans women violating her space or privacy. Here is how the Potter author put it:

Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is. She’ll never need a homeless shelter. She’s never going to be placed on a mixed sex public hospital ward. I’d be astounded if she’s been in a high street changing room since childhood. Her ‘public bathroom’ is single occupancy and comes with a security man standing guard outside the door. Has she had to strip off in a newly mixed-sex changing room at a council-run swimming pool? Is she ever likely to need a state-run rape crisis centre that refuses to guarantee an all-female service? To find herself sharing a prison cell with a male rapist who’s identified into the women’s prison?

Rowling then added:

I wasn’t a multimillionaire at fourteen. I lived in poverty while writing the book that made Emma famous. I therefore understand from my own life experience what the trashing of women’s rights in which Emma has so enthusiastically participated means to women and girls without her privileges.

The billionaire author’s scorched earth post comes after Watson and Potter co-star Daniel Radcliffe have publicly ripped Rowling for years for her stance on trans issues. Rowling has said she is not in favor of having children transition and has said trans women are not women, among other things that have drawn the ire of trans activists.

“Celebs who cosied up to a movement intent on eroding women’s hard-won rights and who used their platforms to cheer on the transitioning of minors can save their apologies for traumatised detransitioners and vulnerable women reliant on single sex spaces,” Rowling said last year.

Watson and Radcliffe have made it clear they disagree with Rowling. In 2020, Watson posted “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.”

Rowling’s X post on Monday also comes on the heels of Watson going on Jay Shetty’s podcast last week and saying that that she was open to reconciling with the author.
“Yeah, and I always will. I believe in that. I believe in that completely,” Watson said about having a dialogue with Rowling.
Rowling on Monday said she is not interested. You can read her full 678-word X post by clicking here.
