Jimmy Kimmel trolled President Donald Trump after a new YouGov poll found the late-night host more popular than the sitting president – and he wasted no time twisting the knife.
The poll, conducted by The Economist and YouGov, surveyed 1,656 U.S. adults and gave the late-night host a clean 16-point lead over Trump.
Opening Monday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the comedian reveled in the news, declaring: “I am more popular than the president of the United States.”
As the audience cheered, the host added: “You remember the guy who keeps saying I have no ratings? Well, that makes two of us. They polled more than 1,000 people, and I lead Trump by 16 points. I’m at plus three, he’s at minus 13.”
“It’s nice,” Kimmel said of the poll, before continuing that given his cleaner record, “I feel like my rating should be higher maybe than Trump.”
He added: “Considering the fact that I’m not a convicted felon, friend of Jeffrey Epstein, and I’ve never paid off a porn star, sent a team of masked goons into a park to pull an old lady away from her grandchildren – I feel like my rating should be higher. Maybe, at this point, finding a toenail in your salad has a seven-point lead over Donald Trump.”
“You know I don’t like to upset him,” Kimmel deadpanned, before closing: “The President of the United States has a lower approval rating than Diddy and diarrhea.”
The poll came just weeks after ABC temporarily suspended Kimmel’s show over a monologue that network executives deemed “ill-timed and thus insensitive” following a wave of MAGA fury.
Since his return, however, ratings have surged with his comeback episode drawing more than six million viewers, quadruple his average audience, while his YouTube monologue has surpassed 21 million views.
