MAGA Influencer Benny Johnson drew controversy yet again when he posted an AI-generated video on social media portraying himself as Batman punching and kicking people in sombreros — days after he was invited to join ICE as they conducted raids in Chicago.

Johnson, who has cheerfully profited as he’s promoted many a right-wing cause célèbre and conspiracy theory over the years, recently accompanied Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as ICE conducted raids in Chicago.

In one video Johnson tweeted on Friday, he donned a vest that said “BORDER PATROL FEDERAL AGENT” and smiled as he called a raid at a Walmart “amazing.”

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and other critics bashed Johnson for “cosplaying” a Border Patrol agent; Johnson defended himself by claiming DHS had asked him to don the vest because of threats from “Democrat domestic terrorists.”

Monday, Johnson followed up from his time in Chicago with an AI-generated video portraying himself as Batman physically assaulting people who were presumably meant to represent people of Mexican descent, wearing sombreros and other traditional clothes, some of the men with large dark mustaches, etc.

Comic-book style captions (“POW!!” “Z-ZWAP!”) popped up on the screen as Johnson violently assaults people, knocking them to the ground or into parked cars, punching people in the face, kicking a man in the stomach, kicking a man with grey hair in the head. One of the AI-generated people he strikes in the face is a woman.

The video clip is only 22 seconds long, but there’s no dialogue or other information that any of the other people shown in the video are illegal immigrants, have committed or are accused of committing any crime, were attempting to interfere with police or ICE, were trying to flee, or had attacked Johnson’s Batman character. They’re just people, dressed in a stereotypical Mexican way, standing in a parking lot.

Benny Johnson, an influential conservative voice with over 4 million followers on X alone, posted a video that was deliberately created on AI to show him beating up Latinos for the crime of existing in a Walmart parking lot.

Unsurprisingly, Johnson’s tweet drew a flood of sharp criticism and mockery.

One notable response was a public service message that appeared in a Batman comic showing the Caped Crusader delivering a pro-immigrant, pro-diversity message to a group of high school football players.

“Don’t believe crackpot lies about people who worship different, or whose skin is of a different color, or whose parents come from another country,” Batman urges his young mentees. “Remember our American heritage of freedom and equality! Don’t weaken our country! A nation divided by prejudice is like a football team without teamwork!”
