MECh leader Radostin Vasilev told reporters here on Sunday that his party wants snap parliamentary elections to take place. He specified that having another MP take the post of Parliament Chair from Nataliya Kiselova would not solve the problems of the ruling coalition and added that a new structure is necessary where GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) – New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski are kept away from power.
The leader of MECh said: “It is clear what Kiselova represents, however, changes in ministerial posts will not solve the problems either. Rather, a new structure is needed, in which Borisov and Peevski remain outside of power. This is our goal. This will happen with a series of elections and the emergence of new actors, with new partnerships, so our desire is to have elections.”
According to Vasilev, elections would be good even with social tensions as a factor. He blamed the presence of such tensions on the ruling coalition.
The leader of MECh believes that his party would grow two to three times stronger, if early parliamentary elections were to be held and added: “TISP [There Is Such a People] and the BSP will largely disappear. GERB will realize that it has been severely weakened and that other parties may emerge. That’s politics, and that’s life – everything flows.”
Vasilev stated that GERB and the MRF – New Beginning have already formalized their coalition. He continued: “We will find out on Wednesday whether [TISP leader] Slavi Trifonov is ready [to back] this act. Because if he does, he will go down in history as one of the greatest political traitors. There is no doubt that Borissov and Peevski are ready to work together. The BSP has bent over backwards to such an extent that it would not be a problem. The only problem is whether There Is Such a People will participate.”
