Shocking Video Shows Youth Baseball Coach Getting Shot on the Field By Stray Bullet in Freak Accident

A youth baseball coach in Texas was shot during a game on Sunday when a stray bullet from nearby hunters struck him in the shoulder.

The incident occurred Sunday morning at the Katy, Texas venue The RAC. In a video posted on Facebook by an individual named Alex Smith, multiple coaches could be seen standing at home plate as players were warming up on the field. Seconds into the video, severals popping sounds suddenly rang out. Initially, there was no reaction from the players and coaches on the field.

Then, the pops intensified and players realized it was gunfire. In the distance, players in the outfield began running. Players in the infield saw this and quickly ducked and ran away, as well. The coaches at home plate also retreated, but one of them slumped over before slowly falling to the ground.

According to a statement from The RAC, the coaching, 27, was treated by on-site medical personnel before being taken to the hospital. He was expected to recover from the injury.

The RAC added that the gunfire was possibly due to “illegal hunting.” Police later identified three suspects in the shooting and charged them with deadly conduct. Additional charges are pending.
