Balgarianovinite.com Vazrazhdane was ready to govern in the next parliament with a possible political project by President Rumen Radev, party deputy chair Petar Petrov told journalists on Monday.
“It would ultimately depend on the vote of Bulgarian voters,” he added.
Vazrazhdane will attend consultations with President Rumen Radev on Tuesday, but it will not take part in forming a government in the current 51st National Assembly. The party called for new early parliamentary elections to show the public’s current mood, Petrov said. He called on Bulgarian citizens to exercise their voting right at the early parliamentary elections to counteract vote buying.
The consultations follow the resignation of the Cabinet, announced by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and unanimously accepted by Parliament last week.
Earlier on Monday, Radev held talks with representatives of GERB–UDF and Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria.
Under the Constitution, after the consultations with the parliamentary groups, the President mandates the largest one to form a government. If the group fails to do so, he mandates the second largest one. If it also fails, the third exploratory mandate goes to a parliamentary group chosen by the President. Failure to form a regular government under the third mandate results in snap parliamentary elections.
