Balgarianovinite.com Speaking to reporters in the Parliament’s lobby, Deputy National Assembly Chair Tsoncho Ganev of Vazrazhdane said that his parliamentary group expects the proposed tax increases in the 2026 State Budget Bill to be withdrawn by its sponsors. According to him, in its current form the draft budget is harmful and should be pulled.
Earlier on Thursday, GERB-UDF Floor Leader and GERB Chair Boyko Borissov said he had advised Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova to withdraw the draft budget or find a legal mechanism to move forward, given that it has already passed first reading.
“The government started backing down after just one protest by the united opposition,” Ganev said. “Opposition forces that normally have nothing in common are united in order to bring down this government,” he argued. According to the MP, those in power have become frightened.
