WATCH: Shocking Video Shows Part of NYC High-Rise Collapsing to the Ground

A pulse-pounding video posted Wednesday shows the moment a large chunk of a New York City high-rise collapsed to the ground in a shocking scene.

The video, recorded after the initial gas explosion in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx, was posted on the CitizenApp and shared by NBC New York on Wednesday.

It shows pieces of the Mitchel Houses building dropping off before the remainder of the brick chimney crumbled and plummeted to the ground below with a roar.

Remarkably, no one was killed or injured in the explosion and subsequent collapse.

The FDNY told the Associated Press that the explosion caused an incinerator shaft to cave in, but no residential units were affected.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in an X post that she had been briefed on the situation, and she’s “relieved that no one was injured and grateful to our first responders.”

“An investigation is underway to determine the cause of this event and the extent of any damage beyond the reported exterior damage to the chimney,” the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) said in a statement city’s Housing authority said in a statement to the AP.
