President Donald Trump was met with a loud ovation and chants of “USA!” when he was shown inside his box at the Charlie Kirk Memorial Service on Sunday afternoon.
The president is set to deliver remarks at the memorial later in the day, as well as Vice President JD Vance and several other high-profile Republicans.
The moment the crowd at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona erupted for Trump was caught and shared by his administration’s Rapid Response 47 X account, which you can see above. President Trump waved, clapped, and shook a fist at the attendees as they greeted him. About 95,000 people attended the event, NBC News reported.
President Trump said last week he felt he had an “obligation” to attend the service for the Turning Point USA founder — whom the president credited with helping him win millions of young voters.
Beyond the president and vice president, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tucker Carlson, Tulsi Gabbard, and Stephen Miller are expected to speak at the public memorial on Sunday.
Security has been tight. Turning Point USA released guidelines for those attending the memorial, including “a patriotic dress code and a strict no-bag policy.” In addition, TPUSA asked that flowers not be brought to the stadium, but delivered instead to their headquarters on East Beverly Road in Phoenix. And many of the speakers thus far have addressed the crowd from a podium placed behind bulletproof glass.
The 31-year-old Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10. He is survived by his wife, Erika, and two small children. The university held a “Vigil for Unity” on Friday in Kirk’s honor.
