Balgarianovinite.com Foreign direct investments in Bulgaria in the first two months of the year have exceeded EUR 800 million. This represents nearly double the growth compared to the same period last year, despite a complex international situation, said Angel Ivanov, acting Executive Director of the InvestBulgaria Agency, at the opening ceremony of the Investor of the Year 2025 awards, organized by the Agency. This marks the 20th anniversary edition of the initiative. With the event, the Agency is also celebrating the 30th anniversary of its establishment.
Ivanov emphasized that over the past decades Bulgaria has established itself as a competitive investment destination, with the quality of investments improving and an increasing number of projects generating high added value.
According to him, Bulgaria attracts investors with its institutional support, stable macroeconomic environment, tax system – among the most favorable in the EU, and, last but not least, its human capital, which is becoming a decisive competitive advantage in any economy.
He also highlighted Bulgaria’s current priority sectors: manufacturing, information and communication technologies, research and development, and education.
“We welcome every investment, but it should be clear that the government has clearly outlined its priorities to encourage projects that will drive a more competitive and more innovative Bulgaria in the future,” he stressed.
He assured attendees of the Agency’s support, noting that “the success of investors is also the success of Bulgaria.”
The Investor of the Year initiative by the InvestBulgaria Agency recognizes companies and investment projects whose activities contribute to the country’s economic development, job creation, the introduction of innovation, and the sustainable growth of the Bulgarian economy.
“This is the most prestigious event for the investment community in Bulgaria. Here we give well-deserved recognition to the people and companies that build the real economy in Bulgaria,” Ivanov said.
The ceremony brought together leading representatives of business, state institutions, the diplomatic corps, international organizations, and partners of the InvestBulgaria Agency.
President Iliana Iotova presented the InvestBulgaria Agency with the Honorary Badge of the President of the Republic of Bulgaria on the occasion of its 30th anniversary.
