Balgarianovinite.com Bulgaria after the adoption of the euro and the role of capital markets were on the agenda of a forum on Wednesday, titled The Investor Day 2026: Mind the Growth forum, organized by the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE).
It brought together representatives of over 150 professional institutional investors, more than 400 participants, and representatives of more than 20 foreign national investors from Austria, Germany, France and other countries.
Addressing the forum, BSE CEO Manyu Moravenov said that he was optimistic about the future of Bulgaria’s capital market and its increasingly active role in the country’s economy.
Moravenov said he expected a series of initial public offerings (IPOs) on the BSE later this year following Wednesday’s forum, supported by a new programme that will finance listing costs for companies on all BSE markets, as well as by an instrument created by the exchange together with institutional investors and pension funds – IPO Growth – which will be a key investor in most IPOs.
Moravenov also noted that in the first quarter of this year, after Bulgaria’s entry into the eurozone, the BSE saw a doubling of turnover in both the number of deals and in value compared to the same period last year.
He said that there was a growing focus on Central and Eastern European countries and their growth potential, with analysts believing that these countries could be among the drivers of Europe’s growth in the coming years, including through their capital markets.
Finance Minister Georgi Klisurski said that at the beginning of the year, Bulgaria sent one of its strongest messages to the investment community through its eurozone accession, making this country an even more attractive and secure destination for investors.
Pointing out that the integration of European capital markets will be one of the main topics of his discussions with finance ministers from the Eurogroup and the EU in Brussels next week, Klisurski said he would advocate for accelerating the process of integrating capital markets so as to make them larger, deeper and more attractive, while also defending the importance of local and national capital markets.
The introduction of the euro has opened up new opportunities for the Bulgarian capital market and removed a number of obstacles, Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) Chair Vasil Golemanski said.
Golemanski said that the impact of joining the euro area was already evident in the first days of 2026, when the Bulgarian capital market ranked among the fastest growing in the world.
“Investor Day is the place where investors and issuers may meet and exchange ideas on future strategies and good investments,” Golemanski added, expressing satisfaction of the growing foreign participation in the forum.
