Balgarianovinite.com Visiting Chinese State Councilor Shen Yiqin, who is also President of the All-China Women’s Federation, conferred separately here on Monday with Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova, Prime Minister Rumen Radev, and Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Galab Donev.
During the session with Iotova, they considered opportunities for cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, advanced technologies, education and culture. The President noted the high quality of local Bulgarian agricultural products. She stressed the need of overcoming obstacles to make Bulgarian goods and services accessible to the Chinese market. Regarding the AI global rollout, the President pointed out Bulgaria’s contributions to the advancement of high technologies, featuring projects developed by the Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT). The importance of rising up to latest challenges in the protection of human rights, following rapid AI development, was also mentioned. On behalf of China’s President Xi Jinping, the State Councilor congratulated Iotova on taking office as Bulgaria’s first female president.
Radev and Shen discussed the development of the strategic partnership between Bulgaria and China, the prospects for expanding economic cooperation, and opportunities for deepening bilateral ties. Radev said the two countries could set an example of successful partnership in times of global uncertainty and geopolitical volatility. The Prime Minister presented Bulgaria as an attractive investment destination and a gateway to the European market, highlighting political stability with a long-term perspective, State institutional support for investors, and the country’s strategic importance for the development of transport and logistics connectivity in the region. For her part, Shen congratulated Radev on assuming office and conveyed best wishes from President Xi and Premier Li Qiang. She stressed that China attaches great importance to relations with Bulgaria and is ready to work with its new government for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and enriching the content of the strategic partnership. The two concurred on the existence of a significant potential for the further development of Bulgarian-Chinese relations and for the implementation of joint initiatives in the interest of the citizens and economies of Bulgaria and China.
Donev and Shen confirmed their common commitment to deepening cooperation. Donev emphasized that Bulgaria is open to developing dialogue and a constructive mutually beneficial partnership in areas of shared interest. The Deputy PM also stressed the need to take concrete steps to balance trade, increase exports of Bulgarian goods and services to the Chinese market, and attract investments, tourists and students. In his words, active dialogue and joint efforts are key to promoting economic contacts between the two countries. During the meeting, Bulgarian Labour and Social Policy Minister Natalia Efremova and Chinese Human Resources and Social Security Minister Wang Xiaoping signed an interdepartmental agreement of intent for cooperation. The signing took place in the presence of Donev and is aimed at pursuing bilateral interaction in labour and social policy.
