Commodity Trade Driven by United States Department of Agriculture Grain Report, Sofia Commodity Exchange Says 2026

Balgarianovinite.com Commodity trading this week was driven by positioning around a United States Department of Agriculture report on grain acreage and stocks, Sofia Commodity Exchange experts said in their weekly analysis on Saturday. Wheat edged lower, grain markets stayed under pressure, and sugar prices rose sharply.
In the short term, wheat looks range-bound with a slight downward bias, as high stocks and improving weather dominate unless harvest data point to a larger yield shortfall than currently expected, the experts said. Milling wheat futures for delivery next month traded at around USD 210 to USD 220 per tonne on the Chicago Board of Trade and at USD 230 to USD 231 per tonne on Euronext.
Grain markets remained under pressure overall, with maize posting one of the sharpest monthly declines on ample supply and weak demand. Maize futures for delivery next month traded at USD 158 to USD 166 per tonne on the Chicago Board of Trade and at USD 266 to USD 269 per tonne on Euronext.
Sugar prices rose sharply this week. Raw sugar futures on the New York exchange traded at around USD 315 to USD 330 per tonne, while refined sugar futures on the London exchange traded at around USD 473 to USD 475 per tonne.
On the Sofia Commodity Exchange, grain trading in the first days of July still included bids for feed wheat at EUR 180 per tonne and offers for milling wheat at EUR 190 per tonne.
Staple food prices remained stable, with opening prices unchanged. A new offer was made for bottled spring water at an opening price of EUR 0.47 per unit. Offers for nuts and seeds also remained in place, ranging from EUR 1,278.23 to EUR 7,362.60 per tonne.
In industrial goods trading on the Sofia Commodity Exchange during the week, deals were concluded for limestone, 0/63 mm fraction, at EUR 8.50 per tonne and 0/32 mm fraction at EUR 11 per tonne. In energy products, B6 diesel fuel was bought at EUR 1,208.33 to EUR 1,220 per tonne and propane-butane gas at EUR 530 per 1,000 litres. There was demand for gas oil for industrial and utility purposes at EUR 1,100 to EUR 1,250 per 1,000 litres, and an offer of lignite coal at EUR 63.91 per tonne.
