Balgarianovinite.com Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova closed the annual conference with the Bulgarian ambassadors and permanent representatives abroad, held on July 20 and 21 in Sofia, the Foreign Ministry said here on Tuesday. In her closing remarks, she highlighted the importance of consistent coordination between the structural units of the Foreign Ministry, Bulgaria’s diplomatic missions abroad and the other state institutions.
According to the Minister, the timely exchange of information is of key importance for the effective work of Bulgaria’s diplomatic service in the dynamic international and domestic political environment. Petrova stressed that the political stability achieved creates conditions for Bulgaria to work with a longer-term perspective, greater predictability and confidence in defending its national interests.
Bulgaria’s top diplomat highlighted the development of economic diplomacy as an essential tool for seeking new partnerships, opportunities and investments. Petrova said that the rule of law, transparency and well-functioning institutions are important prerequisites for building trust and a sustainable investment climate.
The Foreign Minister called on Bulgarian diplomats to view the country’s geographical location as a strategic advantage and to work towards establishing Bulgaria as a crossroads of transport, energy and economic corridors. Petrova also identified connectivity and energy partnerships as priorities, saying they offer an opportunity for the country to establish itself as a bridge between the European Union, the countries of the region, Central Asia and the Persian Gulf.
“Do not place limits on your ambitions,” the Minister told Bulgaria’s diplomatic missions abroad, urging them to be proactive, propose new initiatives and contribute to an even more visible and confident presence for Bulgaria on the international stage.
The annual conference was opened by Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova on Monday. The official part of the event was attended by Prime Minister Rumen Radev and President Iliana Iotova.
