Balgarianovinite.com Bulgarian artist Lina Patron held a solo exhibition titled Geometry of Love at the Kim Boseong Art Center in Seoul, South Korea, the artist reported to BTA.
“The exhibition was organized at the invitation of Korean artist, art patron and gallerist Kim Boseong, director of the art centre,” said Patron, whose birth name is Tsvetelina Patroneva. She noted that this was the first solo exhibition by a Bulgarian artist presented at the gallery, which is a well-established exhibition space in the Pyeongchang-dong art district in Seoul. “Solo exhibitions by foreign artists in such Korean art spaces are relatively rare and are organized after a professional selection process,” Patron noted, adding that the invitation provided an opportunity for contemporary Bulgarian art to reach Korean audiences.
The show was held from July 1 to 14 and featured nearly 30 works inspired by love, human connection, and cultural memory. It highlighted the Patron Family of Artists, an artistic family project in which the artist’s three children also presented their works.
Patroneva noted that one of the project’s main focal points is the Glagolitic script – the oldest-known Slavic alphabet, created by Saints Cyril and Methodius. The artist added that she weaves its symbols into her works as a visual language of love, spirituality, and cultural memory, presenting a part of Bulgaria’s cultural heritage to an international audience.
The official opening of the exhibition also turned into a unique celebration of Bulgarian culture, as Patroneva and her family welcomed the guests dressed in traditional Bulgarian folk costumes.
The event was covered by The Korea Herald, South Korea’s largest English-language daily newspaper, as well as by Korea Image Broadcasting Co. and Art & Culture TV, which introduced her work and the history of the Patron Family of Artists to the Korean audience.
“To me, this exhibition was more than just an art project. It was an opportunity to present Bulgaria, its culture, and its values through art to the Korean public. I believe that art builds bridges where words sometimes fall short,” the artist said.
