Balgarianovinite.com During the forthcoming Apollonia Festival of Arts, the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) will present the 12 issues of its LIK magazine published over the past year, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev said at a BTA-hosted press conference in Sofia on Monday.
The presentation will take place in Sozopol on September 1. The coastal town will once again become Bulgaria’s summer cultural capital as it hosts the 42nd Apollonia Festival of Arts from August 27 to September 6.
Valchev recalled that BTA has been a partner of the festival since its inception in 1984. In 2023, BTA and the Apollonia Foundation signed a partnership agreement.
“The award BTA received in 2024 on the occasion of the festival’s 40th anniversary was largely due to the history that Panayot Denev built over the years at Apollonia,” Valchev said, acknowledging the contribution of the former BTA director general.
Valchev noted that a 2022 issue of LIK magazine dedicated to Apollonia includes the first BTA news report about the festival, published in January 1984, when the Apollonia Winter Music Academy was launched.
Valchev also quoted the festival’s founder, Prof. Dimo Dimov, who said: “We founded Apollonia to create opportunities for others.” The quote is also featured in the magazine. Dimov’s book, My Path in Art, will be presented for the first time during this year’s festival. The publication was made possible by Milena Neyova, who recorded his personal reflections and compiled the book, edited by Silvia Choleva.
“BTA now provides increasingly comprehensive coverage of Apollonia through video, extensive photography and detailed reports, much like the festival bulletin once produced by BTA reporters during their annual leave. We will continue that tradition this year,” Valchev said.
He added that all BTA coverage of the Apollonia festival will be available free of charge for use by media outlets in Bulgaria and abroad.
