U.S. Rep. Max Miller and his lawyers allegedly shared a photo on social media that “appeared” to show his young daughter’s genitals, his ex-wife claims.
In a letter filed by Emily Moreno’s lawyers, she claims the embattled lawmaker — whom she has accused of scalding her with boiling water and other abuse — publicly shared a Dropbox folder full of materials on X that included the intimate image of their child with her name in full view.
The Dropbox folder was “filed in conjunction with a video rant about our client, Emily Moreno, that Miller posted on X,” Moreno’s lawyer Subodh Chandra, wrote in the letter shared on the social media platform by Annie Karni of The New York Times.
“The first time Miller shared the folder, it contained private images of Miller and Ms. Moreno’s daughter and left her name unredacted,” the lawyer wrote.
“At least one of those images could be considered Child Sex Abuse Material (CSAM) because the daughter’s genitals appear to be visible.
“We write to demand an explanation of how this occurred,” Chandra continued. “Whose idea was it to share this intimate image of their child? Why did your firm share it? Did you or your firm vet the images before sharing them? Did anyone? Who?”
The images were later removed, prompting more questions from Chandra.
“Who removed the images from the second folder and why? Was it because someone realized that it was ill-advised (and in the case of the potential CSAM image, illegal) to share these images with the world?
“What are you going to do about this?” the lawyer added.
The images got 204,000 views online, Chandra noted in his letter.
Emily Moreno is the daughter of Ohio Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH), who has called on Miller to quit Congress.
Max Miller has vehemently denied the abuse allegations.
Miller’s attorney did not immediately respond to Mediaite’s request for comment.
Bernie Moreno — who had been publicly silent for weeks on the brewing scandal involving Miller — finally issued a statement Sunday, excoriating his daughter’s ex.
“As a father and husband, I can tell you the last two years have been pure hell for my wife Bridget, our daughter Emily, me, and our entire family in the aftermath of Emily’s divorce,” Moreno wrote, continuing:
It has been horrific to watch this play out in full public view, all while knowing an innocent two-year-old girl is caught in the middle. Our priority has always been protecting our daughter and our granddaughter. Out of concern for the safety of my family, I hoped to keep this matter private but Max Miller’s increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior has made that impossible.
As he has admitted privately, Max Miller needs serious psychological help. He is a danger to my daughter, and I hold my breath every minute he has custody of my granddaughter.
Emily Moreno has alleged Miller pointed a gun at her head, threw scalding hot water at her, pushed her into a wall, and fractured their daughter’s collarbone.
Miller issued a video statement on Sunday again denying the abuse allegations.
“I categorically deny abusing my former wife,” he said, claiming she had “significant mental health challenges.”
