Balgarianovinite.com The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) received awards from the Dr Emil Iliev International Jazz Festival in Borovets in recognition of its promotion and coverage of the music forum.
The distinction, named after the festival’s founder, Dr Emil Iliev, was presented to BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and BTA’s correspondent in Samokov, Ivan Laskin. The plaques were presented by the festival’s director, Tatyana Ilieva.
Ilieva thanked Valchev for BTA’s media partnership and Laskin for his coverage of the festival. BTA has been a media partner of the forum since its first edition in the mountain resort in 2022.
Valchev said that BTA covers jazz festivals across Bulgaria. Last year, the news agency published a special issue of its LIK magazine dedicated to jazz festivals in the country. It was released to mark the 50th anniversary of the first jazz festival in the Danubian city of Ruse.
“From this issue you will learn that over the past half-century Bulgaria has hosted 65 jazz festivals in 21 of the country’s 28 regions,” Valchev said.
He recalled that all issues of LIK magazine published since 2022 are available free of charge on BTA’s website.
In late April, Valchev announced that BTA has established a National Jazz Press Club to expand coverage of jazz events.
Valchev also noted that this year BTA published a LIK issue dedicated to Bulgaria’s spa destinations, one of which is located in the Samokov Municipality area. “This gives us grounds to launch this autumn, together with the Ministry of Tourism and in partnership with the Bulgarian National Radio and the Bulgarian National Television, an initiative called Celebrate Bulgaria. The idea is to showcase opportunities to combine mountain and seaside tourism with festival tourism, of which this remarkable festival in Borovets is a part,” he added.
Iraqi News Agency (INA) Director General Sattar Al-Ardawi was among the official guests attending the Dr Emil Iliev International Jazz Festival in Borovets. On Monday, BTA signed a partnership agreement with INA.
The other media partners of the jazz fest also received distinctions: The Bulgarian National Radio, Evrokom TV and TV1.
The festival’s director announced that the 2027 edition will start July 30.
