Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) responded Wednesday to son-in-law Rep. Max Miller’s (R-OH) CNN interview denying allegations that he abused Moreno’s daughter and their child, saying he’d “give up” his life for his granddaughter.
Miller appeared alongside CNN’s Jake Tapper on Tuesday’s edition of The Lead, during which he interrupted the host as he listed off accusations from multiple women — including Moreno’s daughter, Emily Moreno, and Stephanie Grisham, who served as President Donald Trump’s White House communications director and press secretary in his first term.
At another point, Miller compared his own abuse allegations to Trump’s, emphasizing that he has no plans to leave office or end his re-election run. The interview has since prompted outcry from Democrats and Republicans alike. CNN commentator and GOP strategist Scott Jennings said Tuesday that he “found no reason” to believe that Miller should stay in Congress after tuning in.
According to The Independent’s Eric Michael Garcia, Moreno said Wednesday, “I would give up every cent I have in my life, and including my actual life, for that little two-year-old baby. The best part of my day is when I start FaceTiming her. She’s a sweet little girl. I can’t even express to you what it feels like to have her in my life; I just wish her dad felt the same way.”
Moreno’s daughter has said that during their marriage, Miller pointed a gun at her head, threw scalding hot water at her, pushed her into a wall, and fractured their two-year-old daughter’s collarbone. Miller denies the accusations.
Also on Wednesday, Miller told Newsmax that he couldn’t have been responsible for injuring his toddler because he only watched her for two days during the period in which the injury occurred, adding that his child’s “parent coordinator” and “another doctor” both “attributed this injury to our daughter falling out of the crib in Emily’s care.”
