‘I Gotta Go’: Hannity Ends Interview After De Blasio Rebuts Host’s Attack on Democratic Candidate 2026

Fox News’ Sean Hannity quickly moved to end his interview with former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Thursday after de Blasio rejected the host’s attack on Maine Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson, interrupting, “I gotta go.”

In July, Jackson was chosen to replace the scandal-ridden Graham Platner on the ballot after a sexual assault allegation served as the final straw for his campaign. A Thursday report from Fox News Digital revealed, though, that in response to a newly surfaced police report, Jackson told the outlet, “Nearly 40 years ago, when I was 19 years old, I got into a fight with another man. I took responsibility for it then, and I take responsibility for it now.”

On Thursday’s edition of Hannity, de Blasio regardless predicted a win for the candidate come November, telling the Fox News host, “This guy is your worst nightmare politically, Sean. He’s a lumberjack. He’s a Catholic guy from Northern Maine who fought for working people. He’s gonna win that race.”

Already trying to interject, Hannity argued, “Did you read the story that there’s the accusation he threw a bottle at a woman and has a vile temper? Maybe you don’t follow Maine politics.”

As a July report from The New York Times explained, Jackson threw a half-empty water bottle during a heated 2021 argument with then-state Sen. Heather Sanborn, a fellow Democrat, over legislation aimed at lowering prescription drug costs. Witnesses said that the bottle was not thrown at Sanborn and did not strike her or anyone else, though some recalled her leaving the state capitol shaken and in tears. Jackson later apologized to Sanborn and his colleagues.

“Are you kidding me that you’re talking about at 19, he hit a guy, and that’s your reason the guy shouldn’t be in the U.S. Senate?” de Blasio countered.

“Alright, I gotta go,” declared Hannity.

“He’s gonna win in Maine, and it’s gonna change everything, Sean,” the former New York City mayor insisted as music played, seemingly wrapping up the segment. To note, the interview was bumping up against the ten-minute mark, meaning the Fox News host may have needed to wrap things up anyway — though his interruptions seem to speak for themselves.
