Fox News host Lisa Boothe went after democratic socialist candidate Oliver Larkin (D) for being the “living definition” of a spoiled kid who attends posh private schools and grows up with “great privilege”… only to turn into a Marxist politician who demands Americans pay for a bunch of government-funded programs.
She did not hold back during Larkin’s appearance on The Big Weekend Show on Sunday. Boothe and co-host Joey Jones pointed out Larkin attended Phillips Exeter Academy boarding school — which currently costs about $71,000 per year — and later went to college at Sewanee, which costs upwards of $60K per year.
“Some people might look at that and maybe think you’re a little bit of a hypocrite on some of this stuff,” Boothe told him, a moment after Fox News showed his platform calls for medicare for all and college for all. Larkin — who is running to represent Florida in the House of Representatives — sat patiently, with a smirk on his face.
Boothe then asked, “Why do you think you’re entitled to other people’s money?”
“I’m not entitled to anyone else’s money. I’m talking about universal programs that we all pay into,” Larkin said.
Boothe jumped in to ask how he would afford all this. Larkin said it would be pretty easy if President Donald Trump was not spending $1-2 billion per day on his “illegal” Iran war.
“We’ve seen so much of our blood and treasure go into foreign wars overseas that have not made Americans safer, and we have seen a declining standard of living,” he continued.
Boothe then asked him again why he feels entitled to other people’s money. He reiterated he did not see it that way.
“But Oliver, let me ask you this As someone — you — who have attended some of these elite institutions that most Americans can never afford, they could never even dream of affording, how can you sit there and talk about income inequality and some of these different things?” Boothe said. “When you are the living definition of someone who has experienced great privilege of some of these incredibly elite institutions. So how do you square that hypocrisy?”
“I certainly have attended some prestigious institutions and I am very proud of the background I come from,” Larkin said.
He then pivoted to saying his dad was a retired Army captain who was able to”climb out of the lower middle class” thanks to the military paying for his education. Larkin said it was important to “invest in public education so that we can all stand to benefit from the really robust educational infrastructure I enjoyed growing up.”
Larkin’s interview comes a few days after he got into another fiery exchange on Fox News, where Sean Hannity pressed him for a straight answer on how much he wanted to tax citizens to fund his socialist agenda.
“Give me a number!” Hannity repeatedly shouted at Larkin.
