Right-wing commentator Tim Pool abruptly departed a Jubilee debate with 20 progressives after he was accusing of grifting in a video shared by the media company Sunday.
The debate was part of Jubilee’s “Surrounded” series, which pits one person against a room full of people who have opposite political beliefs. The day’s debate was about which political party is more violent. The third segment was Pool’s claim that “the United States is tracking toward a civil war.”
Mason, an influencer who is known on Instagram as OneHandPolitics, was one of the first to debate Pool, who was described by the show’s host as politically moderate. He accused the podcaster of, among other things, saying “bullshit to get money.”
He claimed Pool called for a “civil war” in 2019, something the latter refuted. “I’ve never called for civil war,” Pool answered quickly. Mason corrected himself and said, “Not calling for — I’m sorry, [you] said that we’re on the brink of civil war.”
“And what was the citation that I had when I said that?” Pool asked. “It was The Atlantic. Okay. And it was a journalist who interviewed several national security experts who said that there is a range of opinions in the national security space that the US is trending towards a civil war.”
The pair debated Pool’s original words and intent, and the podcaster said, “I don’t actually have a strong prediction” about the possibility of a second civil war in the U.S.
“You do have a strong prediction if you’ve been saying this since 2019,” Mason answered. “There’s 42, people can look this up. There’s 42 of your titles that have the word civil war in it. Like big fonts on the front. So why is that?”
He continued:
It’s sensationalist. It’s easy to get clicks on that. There’s a reason why you say it. Because it’s very profitable for your business.

Pool disagreed with the take, and both men continued to speak over one another. “There comes a point where people stop taking your prediction seriously,” Mason said.
“Are you going to make an argument or are you mad at me?” Pool asked.
As Pool insisted Mason was “making an argument” because “you don’t like my thumbnails,” the latter interjected, “I’m saying you say bullshit in order to get money” and was met with some applause.
Elsewhere, Mason also described Pool as being among a group of “right-leaning conservatives who claim to be moderates.”
