Balgarianovinite.com Bulgarian Navy personnel responded to two reports of objects found along the Black Sea coast, the Defence Ministry said on Saturday.
A specialised team from the Varna Naval Base inspected and transported parts of an unmanned aerial vehicle found on the seashore between the Albena resort complex and the village of Kranevo in Dobrich District. The team classified the object as a decoy drone, with no explosive material on board.
Specialists from the Varna Naval Base also examined parts of a drone washed ashore and found on the beach in the Rakitenika area near Varna. The servicemen acted on a report received from the Varna Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry.
To ensure the safety of tourists, the specialised Navy team transported the objects to the Varna Naval Base, strictly observing safety measures.
The teams acted on orders from the Chief of Defence and following instructions from the Commander of the Bulgarian Navy.
Earlier, the Dobrich Regional Administration reported that drone debris had been found on Saturday on the beach between Kranevo and the Albena resort complex.
The report was made via the emergency number 112. Dobrich Regional Governor Ruslan Tomov was informed of the incident.
In accordance with established procedures, the Bulgarian Navy was notified and the area was cordoned off by police officers.
An inspection found that the object had been washed ashore from the sea. The drone debris was removed from the beach.
On August 8, a drone entered Bulgarian airspace and crashed metres from the border with Romania near the Kardam border crossing. On August 13, a report was received of an object resembling an artillery shell floating in the sea near Tyulenovo, Shabla Municipality.
