Balgarianovinite.com A contact form will be created on the Justice Ministry website allowing any magistrate to report possible attempts to influence their independent decision-making while ensuring the full confidentiality of the person making the report, Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Rumen Radev. The two presented the Justice section of the 2026-2030 Governance Programme of the Republic of Bulgaria. Naydenov’s remarks come ahead of elections for a new Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
He commented: “For the first time in many years, we have a real chance to put an end to the long-standing capture and subjugation of the judiciary by oligarchic circles, the creation and exploitation of dependencies and, consequently, the chronic lack of justice.”
Addressing magistrates across the country, Naydenov urged: “Do not give in to pressure and do not become victims of petty calculations. Traders in justice have no place in the temple of Themis. Do not be afraid of the giants in the judiciary, because they are dwarfs.”
The Justice Minister called on the parliamentary forces, magistrates’ organizations and the academic community to begin discussions on constitutional reform. “It cannot – and it has been proven that it should not – be the work of a single majority. Reform requires broad agreement, time and precision in the expert approach. This is precisely where our call for partnership takes on its most concrete meaning,” Naydenov said.
