Balgarianovinite.com Bulgaria was guest of honour at the 103rd edition of the Lavender Fair in the French town of Digne-les-Bains, where the Bulgarian rose was among the main highlights, the Bulgarian Embassy in France said on Facebook on Saturday.
The fair officially opened on August 20. Bulgarian Ambassador to France Radka Balabanova-Ruleva attended the opening ceremony. Guests included Isabelle Tomatis, prefect of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Digne-les-Bains Mayor Julien Di Benedetto, representatives of the local authorities and Bulgaria’s Honorary Consul in Marseille Mireille Martin.
At a dedicated Bulgarian area, visitors had the opportunity to discover Bulgarian fragrances, products and traditions, as well as the country’s historical and cultural heritage.
In her address, Balabanova-Ruleva highlighted the ties between Bulgaria and France and the two countries’ shared commitment to preserving traditions and passing on the knowledge and skills associated with the cultivation and processing of aromatic plants.
During the four-day fair, the Balkanski Ritmi folk group from Varna presented Bulgarian traditional dances.
The Embassy expressed gratitude to the volunteers from the Provence-Bulgarie association, chaired by Mireille Martin, and to the Bulgarian producers who took part in the fair.
The 103rd Lavender Fair ran from August 20 to 23, with Bulgaria featured as a guest country and the Damascus rose (Damascena) highlighted as one of its emblematic products.
