Pre-election and quietly, on May 10, the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office (Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office) has terminated the separation from Barcelona Gate pre-trial proceedings, something like a “satellite” case without the participation of the Man from Bankya. So the big prosecutor’s office Sarafov’s laundry continues “by 200” this year as well.
Barcelonagate died in the prosecutor’s files in stages. First there was the removal from the case of Boyko Borisov, which had nothing to do with it. Remarkable bend The Bulgarian prosecution came a few months after Borisov narrowly escaped arrest for the same case. He was kindly saved by his non-coalition partners from PP-DB, who helped to replace the rebel Ivan Geshev with the loyal Borislav Sarafov and pretended to be distracted about the folders submitted by Geshev to the parliament, which demanded the immunity of the former prime minister.
Borisov’s laundering But then the case was not permanently terminated. Along the words of the prosecutor’s office itself: “Before the termination of the criminal proceedings, the supervising prosecutors separated materials in a separate investigation for four crimes, namely money laundering regarding the increase in the capital of a Spanish commercial company; money laundering for transfers between individuals with the initials R.R. and B.Y.; money laundering for the purchase of real estate in the Republic of Turkey and for an unprofitable transaction on the occasion of the sale of shares of a commercial company.”
Let’s clarify – B. Y. Is Borislava Yovcheva (Miss Bikini), and R.R. is Rosen Rusimov, a key player in the “Cats” circle, which circle is considered particularly close to Boyko Borisov and through which the latter has a hidden shareholding in a number of lucrative businesses. Reference – the well-stocked business Empire of bodybuilder Alexander Staliyski. And not only. It is the cat Rusimov who is believed to be financing Yovcheva’s luxurious life in Italy and Turkey after her speedy departure from Barcelona – as well as the expenses for the education of Yovcheva and Borisov’s daughter.
Separately from B.Y., in the documents in the case, but without being mentioned by the prosecution, the person B. Y. – Beyzat Yahya, long-time manager of the Palamara hunting reserve and personal translator of Boyko Borisov during his meetings with Erdogan. It is said that after the “expulsion from paradise” in Barcelona, Yovcheva and her child, who is reported to be from Boyko Borisov, settled in Istanbul in a property owned by Yahya. Perhaps that is why the head of the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office, Iliana Kirilova, in one of her interviews talked about “Istanbulgate”.

The motives are a secret
At this stage, it is not clear what are the motives of the supervising prosecutors Svetoslav Milushev and Magdalena Nikolova to crush this pre-trial proceeding – in fact, the last one that has an indirect connection with Borisov. However, some other key things are clear. First of all, Nikolova was precisely the seconded prosecutor (from the SWP to the SPO), who in 2020 crushed the probe into the PKP recordings, in which Borisov threatened to “burn” some people and “smash the faces” of others. So the lady has a proven track record of crushing cases – but apparently not in writing indictments.
Secondly, there is a kind of vacuum in the Criminal Procedure Code to this day, which is why there is no one to appeal against the termination of pre-trial proceedings in which no defendants have been involved and there are no injured individuals or legal entities. And the Prosecutor’s Office takes advantage of this vacuum whenever it can. This was the case with the termination of Barcelona Gate 7 months ago, and it is the same now. In other words, there is no possibility of subsequent judicial review – even with the considerable chance that the case will fall to a former special judge with a magnetic card from SS Club. So the only remaining possibility to restart the criminal proceedings is at the discretion of Borislav Sarafov. The Appellate Prosecutor’s Office is not even worth commenting on, since Emil Euroto (the brother of the ubiquitous Petyo) and Emilia Rusinova – both frequent and documented visitors to the restaurant “The Eight Dwarfs” – are acting as bosses there.
And so we come again to the Rubicon of the Bulgarian justice – who controls the Prosecutor General, also controls the future fate of the terminated cases against Borisov. And the controller is publicly known – Delyan Slavchev Peevski. So Peevski will keep Borisov until the expiration of the absolute statute of limitations on Barcelona Gate – i.e. most likely for at least another 4-5 years. On the other hand, it is very unlikely that Borisov will keep Peevski with anything. At least we don’t remember what. And in view of the prospect of Sarafov continuing to perform the functions of Prosecutor General indefinitely, the remaining time until the expiration of the absolute statute of limitations is expected to pass quietly and serenely for Borisov. As long as he continues to listen to the State Enterprise, of course.
And in the NRA everything is a secret
Currently, BIRD is suing the NRA in order to overturn their absurd refusal to provide information about the tax audits of Yovcheva and other key participants in the Barcelona Gate affair. Revisions that have obviously ended in the “right” way for Boyko, sorry for Borislava. Which fact should obviously remain hidden, or at least its illumination should be delayed as much as possible. In this regard, we cannot help but recall that Georgi Yovchev – Borislava’s father – Pay over a quarter of a million levs in tax liabilities to the NRA, just so that the case does not enter the court stage. Where did this modest plumber find such a large sum in bulk is obviously not a question that worries Rumen Spetsov and his wards. It is very possible – although we cannot prove it – that this money is cat’s money. But at least one thing is for sure – they are not from the repair of sinks and pipes.
