Balgarianovinite.com Bulgaria’s Culture Minister Evtim Miloshev told reporters ahead of the official opening of the 42nd Apollonia Festival of Arts he was happy to be in Sozopol.
The joy of engaging with art and creativity is an inherent and profound human impulse, “an impulse towards freedom of the spirit”, the Culture Minister said. In his words, Sozopol has been an iconic place for 42 years, where people gather because its old streets, shaped by so many eras and civilizations, once again become a centre of Bulgarian culture.
One of the great achievements of the Apollonia Arts Festival is that young talents stand alongside established cultural figures, leaving a deep and lasting legacy long after the festival ends, Miloshev added.
The Apollonia Festival of Arts will run until September 6.
Apollonia has been held since 1984. Its stages in Sozopol bring together artists from different fields and audiences from Bulgaria and abroad each year. This year’s programme features more than 70 events spanning music, theatre, literature, cinema and visual arts.
BTA is a media partner of the festival and will take part in its The Price of Success series on September 1, presenting the 12 issues of BTA’s LIK magazine published since the previous edition of Apollonia.
