Balgarianovinite.com Residents and visitors of Razgrad learned about the history and architectural significance of the Makbul Ibrahim Pasha Mosque as part of an Open Day initiative on Friday. The restored building was visited by people of different ages, the press centre of the Razgrad Regional Administration said.
Among the visitors were Grand Mufti of the Muslim Denomination Dr Ahmed Hasanov and Secretary General Dzhelal Faik. They were welcomed by Razgrad Regional Governor Aylin Basheva. She noted that the strong interest during the first Open Day last month had demonstrated the need for the restored mosque to be accessible to residents and visitors to the city.
“When cultural heritage is preserved and accessible, it continues to be part of the life of the community. Our goal is to give more and more people the opportunity to experience the history, architecture and significance of this unique building,” Basheva said.
The Razgrad Regional Administration recalled that until a competent institution is designated to take over the management and maintenance of the mosque, an Open Day will be held on the last Friday of every month. The initiative gives residents and visitors to Razgrad an opportunity to visit the architectural monument and learn about its history and cultural significance.
Restoration of the mosque was completed in September 2024, and the mosque was commissioned on May 19, 2025. In May, the Razgrad Regional Administration took steps to find a sustainable solution for the management and maintenance of the Makbul Ibrahim Pasha Mosque. Following the restoration work, the mosque has regained its authenticity and splendour, combining the richness of its historical heritage with modern technologies for the preservation of cultural monuments.
