President Donald Trump was met with cheers, chants of “USA,” and calls to tee up as he arrived at the Ryder Cup on Friday in Farmingdale, NY.

The president arrived shortly after 11 am EST, accompanied by his granddaughter, Kai Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s 18-year-old daughter. Security was heightened throughout the course for one of golf’s biggest international events, which pits Team USA against Team Europe every two years.

As he made his first appearance on the grandstand, behind the first tee box, Kai riled up the already enthusiastic crowd by raising her hands as Trump greeted a line of important guests. The duo then took their seats behind glass for a rendition of the national anthem, performed by New York City firefighter Bryan Robinson, complete with a flyover.

Snipers were stationed in the top section of the stand above Trump’s box of Perspex glass, which was constructed overnight ahead of his arrival.

Trump’s appearance comes on the heels of his fiery Tuesday address to the United Nations General Assembly in Manhattan, where he criticized the UN itself, accusing it of promoting a “globalist migration agenda.” He went on to criticize “the failed experiment of open borders,” claiming countries with more relaxed immigration policies are “going to hell.”
