The central office of the European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA) will be moved to Sofia, the Bulgarian Snooker Federation said on Friday.
Youth and Sports Minister Encho Keryazov held talks on Friday with EBSA President Maxime Cassis on the development of snooker in Bulgaria. Bulgarian Snooker Federation President Oleg Velinov, who was elected vice-president of the European body several days ago, also attended the meeting.
The talks focused on opportunities to promote snooker more widely in Bulgaria and attract more children and young people to the sport.
Velinov presented the federation’s plans to promote snooker among children through initiatives in schools. He stressed that the sport develops concentration, strategic thinking, precision and self-discipline, the Bulgarian Snooker Federation said.
Cassis is in Bulgaria for the European Snooker Championships, which are being held in Sofia from September 9 to 24.
