Bulgarian writer Georgi Gospodinov will present the Swedish edition of his novel The Physics of Sorrow at the Gothenburg Book Fair on Thursday, September 24, he said in a post on his Facebook profile.
“My first event is on Thursday, the 24th, at the Gothenburg Book Fair — described as the largest cultural event in Scandinavia. We will talk about the Swedish edition of The Physics of Sorrow. Come along if you are nearby,” the writer wrote, adding a link with information about the other events on his programme in Sweden.
The Gothenburg Book Fair is one of Northern Europe’s largest literary events, bringing together writers, publishers, translators and readers from different countries each year.
The Physics of Sorrow was released in Sweden on August 15 under the title Vemodets fysik.
According to the Italian newspaper Corriere Fiorentino, Gospodinov’s novel is among the “ten masterpieces” of the current century.
Georgi Gospodinov recently took part in the inaugural edition of a literature and choreography festival in Tirana, organised by renowned Bulgarian-to-Albanian translator Milena Selimi.
