Presidential candidate Iliana Iotova said in Popovo that the need for dialogue and cooperation among institutions will be a key focus of her campaign. She presented her positions on issues including young people, education, security and the international situation.
Iotova said Bulgarian institutions must work together as required by the Constitution, stressing the importance not only of listening but of being responsive, as well as of compromise, dialogue and reason. She said checks and balances among the branches of government are necessary, but when citizens’ interests are at stake, institutions should seek common solutions.
On young people, Iotova identified uncertainty over career prospects, incomes and housing as key problems. She said this should be a major concern for all institutions and called for a national programme bringing together the available forms of support for young people.
Talking about the campaign she is conducting with her running mate Kiril Valchev, Iotova said: “We will continue to highlight the major issues facing Bulgaria, explain our proposals, seek your support, and look for more allies across the political spectrum.”
She said she would continue meeting citizens in different parts of the country because she wanted to hear and answer their questions, and then let “people make up their own minds”.
