NFL Calls on DHS to Remove Video Comparing Immigration Crackdown to Hall of Famer’s Most Violent Hits 2026

The NFL is asking that the Department of Homeland Security remove a social media video that used a compilation of former Philadelphia Eagles star Brian Dawkins’ brutal tackles to depict federal agents’ treatment of immigrants.

The video was posted Sunday afternoon in response to a news alert from an account known for sharing baseless or misleading claims that read, “Huge migrant caravan headed towards the US southern border.”

Complete with the caption, “Our time has come,” the clip was a montage of the former safety’s most violent hits set to Korn’s “Blind.” Dawkins can also be heard chanting, “The time has come,” in the background.

According to Monday reporting from ESPN, though, the NFL said it has asked DHS to take down the video of the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. It remains live as of 6 p.m. ET Monday.

Additionally, the outlet reached Dawkins by text, where he emphasized, “I have very respectfully not given permission.” He posted his own video featuring a similar message.

In a statement to Forbes, DHS spokesperson Chandler Rebel defended the post, emphasizing, “DHS is playing lockdown defense at the border. We will use every Weapon at our disposal, from A to X, to keep Americans safe.” Here, he was making an apparent reference to Dawkins’ X-Men-inspired nickname — “Weapon X.”

As ESPN noted, it’s not the first time that President Donald Trump’s administration has used football footage in its social media posts. In March, the White House mixed highlights from NFL and college games with footage of U.S. strikes in Iran.

The NFL would not tell ESPN whether it had also sought to have that post, set to “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC, taken down, and it remained online as of Monday.

A number of musicians and entertainers have objected to the Trump administration using their music or likenesses in immigration-related videos, including Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Jess Glynne, MGMT, and even comedian Theo Von.
