Health records for more than 750,000 citizens are now accessible through the eZdrave (eHealth) mobile app, Information Services AD announced on Friday. The total number of active users has reached 485,000, while the remaining profiles are linked accounts that allow parents to monitor the health records of their children under the age of 18.
The figures show that the number of app users has increased by 50% over the past six months alone, reflecting growing confidence in digital healthcare services and the increasingly active use of the National Health Information System (NHIS). The analysis indicates that more and more citizens are taking advantage of the ability to monitor their own health records and gain more direct access to information about the medical care they have received. Women aged 31 to 50 are the most active users.
The app was developed and is operated by Information Services, a company within the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation, as part of the ministry’s policy to provide convenient and transparent digital services for citizens. Through eHealth, users have full access to electronic health records stored in the NHIS, including records of medical examinations, e-prescriptions, referrals, laboratory tests, vaccinations and other health-related information. The app allows users to keep their entire medical history in one place and access it at any time directly from their mobile device.
The eHealth app can be activated using a qualified or cloud-based electronic signature, as well as in person at Information Services offices, regional health inspectorates and Health Insurance Fund regional offices. The Dental Treatment module is scheduled to be launched this month, giving users access to information about their dental examinations, procedures and treatments, dental status and other related data.
A new feature enabling users to submit online reports of suspected irregularities was introduced in August. Since its launch, citizens have submitted 1,760 reports concerning suspected violations. The control authorities of the National Health Insurance Fund have initiated 560 inspections based on these reports. The largest number of reports concerned medical examinations, referral results and hospitalizations at healthcare facilities in Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and Burgas.
