Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller raged over a ruling — from a judge appointed by President Donald Trump — which blocks a National Guard deployment in Portland.

Late Saturday, U.S. District Court Judge Karin Immergut blocked the president from calling up 200 National Guard troops to Portland, OR — amid claims of unrest targeting federal immigration authorities.

“This is a nation of Constitutional law, not martial law,” Judge Immergut wrote — in a blistering ruling which rejected the Trump administration’s claims of a “War ravaged Portland.” She added that that the Trump administration’s arguments in the case “risk blurring the line between civil and military federal power — to the detriment of this nation.”

Further, the judge added, “this country has a longstanding and foundational tradition of resistance to government overreach, especially in the form of military intrusion into civil affairs.”

Shortly after, Miller denounced the judge’s ruling in a post on X.

“Legal insurrection,” Miller wrote. “The President is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, not an Oregon judge. Portland and Oregon law enforcement, at the direction of local leaders, have refused to aid ICE officers facing relentless terrorist assault and threats to life. (There are more local law enforcement officers in Oregon than there are guns and badges in the FBI nationwide). This is an organized terrorist attack on the federal government and its officers, and the deployment of troops is an absolute necessity to defend our personnel, our laws, our government, public order and the Republic itself.”

Miller then shared a post from prominent pro-MAGA attorney Will Chamberlain.

“The State of Oregon, its Governor, the Mayor of Portland, even Judge Immergut – are all openly rebelling against the lawful and legitimate authority of the United Stated Federal Government,” Chamberlain wrote.

The Trump administration has already filed a notice of appeal in the case. In a statement (via Politico) White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson said, “President Trump exercised his lawful authority to protect federal assets and personnel in Portland following violent riots and attacks on law enforcement — we expect to be vindicated by a higher court.”
