Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry Alexander Poulev will lead a business delegation to the United States for the third Defence and Security Business Mission organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, the ministry said.
The visit aims to expand cooperation opportunities between Bulgarian and US companies in strategic and high-tech sectors. The delegation will include 30 business representatives from 20 companies.
During the visit, Poulev will meet with US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg, representatives of the White House National Economic Council, and leading American companies, including Lockheed Martin, SpaceX, Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
Poulev will also attend the annual meeting and exhibition of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
The visit will provide further opportunities for direct contacts between Bulgarian and US companies in the defence industry, high technology, engineering, space and satellite technology. The aim is to deepen industrial cooperation, technology exchange and investment, and to help Bulgarian companies become part of international supply chains.
Bulgarian industry has the potential to play a more active role in international supply chains and develop partnerships with leading global companies, Poulev said, as quoted by the ministry. The government’s task is to create opportunities for Bulgarian businesses to access new markets, attract investment, develop technologically and achieve sustainable growth, he added.
In the United States, the delegation will present the potential of Bulgarian companies and work to build long-term partnerships that bring added value to the Bulgarian economy, Poulev said.
The Deputy Prime Minister will be one of the keynote speakers at a seminar on defence and security opportunities organized by the US Department of Commerce. The event will be opened by Bradley McKinney, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the department’s International Trade Administration.
According to the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, the delegation is visiting the United States on October 11-16.
The business mission is supported by the US Department of Commerce, the Commercial Service at the US Embassy in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Embassy in the United States, the US Chamber of Commerce, the Atlantic Council of the United States, the Maryland Department of Commerce and the World Trade Center Baltimore.
The American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria welcomed the growing number of participants in the business mission.
