Bulgaria is ready to promote investments that bring high added value and introduce successful business models into the Bulgarian economy, Prime Minister Rumen Radev said at a meeting with a US business delegation, the Government Information Service said on Monday.
The meeting was organized by the US Embassy in Bulgaria. The delegation included companies operating in security, high technology, defence, energy and other sectors. Innovation and Digital Transformation Minister Ivan Vasilev also took part in the meeting.
Radev said Bulgaria sought to become an important part of high-tech production chains, noting that local companies in electronics, space and defence were seeking international partners. He also highlighted the region’s first Institute for Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Technology (INSAIT), which attracts Bulgarian and international researchers.
He said expanding transport, logistics, energy and digital infrastructure created opportunities for partnerships, while highlighting the Government’s commitment to political stability and closer strategic cooperation with the US.
On October 7, the Government approved Bulgaria’s accession to the US-initiated Joint Statement on AI Opportunity Partnership, which aims to promote AI innovation and strengthen the security and resilience of technology supply chains. A total of 54 countries have joined the declaration.
