A New York state candidate running to replace Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) in Congress has been dubbed the “Trumpiest congressional candidate in the country” by Bulwark editor Brendan Hartnett, after the outlet unearthed at least two podcasts featuring Anthony Constantino (R) pledging total loyalty to the president.
Constantino is the CEO of online printing company Sticker Mule, and dabbles in rapping and stand-up comedy. He refers to himself as “the Trump of Upstate New York.”
In anticipation of the midterms, as some GOP candidates are distancing themselves from Trump over his dismal popularity ratings due to the economy and the Iran war, Hartnett found that Constantino remains all-in on Trump, even though he’s trailing dairy farmer Blake Gendebien (R) by 4 points in a district that favored Trump by 20 points in 2024.
In a December 2024 appearance on the Rich Giardino Show, Constantino said he thought Trump was “the smartest person by far in the United States of America.”
“He’s the best decision-maker by far. I wanna support all of his initiatives across the board. I’m gonna be totally supportive of him. I think people should always be subordinate to the leader. I expect my subordinates to listen to me, and I’m gonna listen to him and support him across the board as best I can,” Constantino said at the time.
Constantino went a step further on the Chrissie Mayr Live podcast in January 2025, telling the host that some mysterious politicians have tried to bribe him in the past.
“Nobody can control me,” Constantino declared. “We have a president who can control me. Other than President Trump and, you know, maybe Roger Stone — I like to listen to Roger, I really respect Roger. You know, Roger sacrificed greatly for the country. I really respect Roger. So, other than my fiancée, the president, and Roger Stone, I don’t think anyone can control me.”
Constantino has paid Stone’s firm Drake Ventures hundreds of thousands of dollars to consult on his congressional campaign.
For the article, Hartnett asked Constantino about his undying fealty to Trump, and the congressional candidate responded with a statement: “Everyone knows that it’s smart to negotiate privately with the President, who personally likes me, to get things done for the citizens of New York’s 21st District. I have the President’s respect and will use it wisely to help our citizens.”
