Selma Blair was arrested after a mid-flight altercation in which she bit a crew member and attempted to open the plane’s door mid-flight, TMZ reported Monday.
TMZ also reported that “you can hear her screaming bloody murder as an alarm rings” in audio the outlet obtained from the flight.
From the report:
One of the flight attendants sustained a laceration and the other a bite. We’re told Blair was put in restraints on the plane and arrested upon landing. Law enforcement also tells TMZ when Blair was in the ambulance en route to the hospital, she repeatedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head.
When the ambulance reached the hospital, we’re told Blair allegedly assaulted a nurse, who has pressed charges.
The State has charged Blair with 2 counts of assault — one on a police officer and another on a nurse.
Blair was traveling on a Delta flight when the incident began. Per TMZ, she is accused of “punching one flight attendant and biting another after trying to open the plane’s door in the middle of the flight.”
Things apparently began when she “attempted to open the aircraft door while the plane was in the air Sunday on its way to John F. Kennedy International Airport, leading to a confrontation with crew members.”
A rep for the outlet said, “Selma experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct. Upon landing, she received immediate medical attention and is currently in stable condition.”
Blair was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2018. Per the Mayo Clinic, when people have MS, “the immune system attacks the protective sheath that covers nerve fibers, known as myelin. This interrupts communication between the brain and the rest of the body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage of the nerve fibers.”
Blair previously told Today in 2025 she has also been diagnosed with dystonia and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.
