The Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir gave a concert at the Church of Blessed Augustin Kazotic in Zagreb on Monday. The ensemble, which has a history spanning more than 60 years and over 2,000 international performances, presented a programme under conductor Mihaela Koteva combining Bulgarian musical heritage with classical works and contemporary popular music.
At the end of the concert singers from Zagreb’s renowned Zvjezdice Choir joined the Bulgarian ensemble on stage. Conducted by Marija Andela Biondic, the two choirs performed three songs together, bringing together the long-standing Bulgarian and Croatian choral traditions.
Attending the concert were Bulgarian Ambassador Iva Kruleva, President of the National Community of Bulgarians in the Republic of Croatia Josip Nalis, its Deputy President Rashko Ivanov, representative of the Bulgarian national minority of the City of Zagreb Pero Diankov, and Prof. Zdravko Šljivac, founder and artistic director of the Zvjezdice Choir.
The Bulgarian National Radio Children’s Choir is visiting Croatia at the invitation of the National Community of Bulgarians in Croatia and will give two more concerts, in Osijek and Dakovo. The Zagreb concert was organized by the Youth Music Institute – Zvjezdice Singing Studio.
As part of bilateral cultural cooperation, a visit by the Croatian choir to Sofia has already been agreed for 2027.
