A delegation of the Movement of Rights and Freedoms (MRF) in Brussels met with Patryck Jaki, Co-Chair of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group in the European Parliament, the Bulgarian party’s press office reported Tuesday.
In a spirit of understanding, mutual support, and cooperation, the sides discussed their positions on the Multiannual Financial Framework. There is a shared view that the future EU financial framework must include resources, instruments, programmes, and clear rules to support local authorities, which are closest to the people’s problems, the press release reads.
The MRF delegation briefed its political partners on cases of “abuse of power, political interference in the operational work of law enforcement agencies, and human rights violations committed by Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev and his political cabinet,” the press release reads further. The MRF representatives will also brief the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) on the specific cases.
Jaki expressed full support for the MRF’s actions and a desire for transparent discussions and concrete measures to address the issue, the MRF reported. A significant part of the conversation centred on the shared desire to cooperate with the MRF on Group initiatives related to allied security, resilience, and countering Russian hybrid and kinetic attacks along NATO’s eastern flank and in the Black Sea.
The MRF delegation includes Deputy Floor Leader Iskra Mihaylova, Deputy Chair Radoslav Revanski, Central Operational Bureau members Atidzhe Veli and Nedzhmi Ali, and advisor to the MRF Chair on international affairs Stanislav Anastasov. They were accompanied by MRF members of the European Parliament Tamer Kabilov and Elena Yoncheva.
