Twenty amateur theatre groups will participate in the 13th Theatre Without Borders national festival, taking place in Samokov on October 19-24, the organizers from the Otets Paisii – 1859 Community Centre said Monday.
The six-day programme features comedies, dramas, monologues and children’s theatre performed by groups from across Bulgaria, including Veliko Tarnovo, Nova Zagora, Asenovgrad, Varna and Sofia. The festival welcomes non-professional actors, with no age or genre restrictions. Student and youth performances are scheduled at times suitable for school visits, while productions for adults are staged mainly in the evenings.
A selection committee chooses the performances. The jury consists of Bogdana Kosturkova from the Satirical Theatre, actor Stanislav Pishtalov and actor and director Ivan Tanev.
