Voting has ended in the election of members of Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) from the prosecutors’ quota, the SJC said on Saturday. Prosecutors are electing four members of the Council from a total of 25 candidates.
The opening of ballot boxes at the polling stations, the counting and verification of ballots and the preparation of voting results protocols are being video-recorded and monitored, with the process broadcast live on the SJC website.
Voting took place using paper ballots at 29 polling stations across the country, corresponding to the number and locations of the district courts.
Turnout stood at 61.77% as at 1 p.m., with 968 of the 1,567 eligible prosecutors having cast their ballots. After 4 p.m., the SJC reported that turnout was high, without providing an updated figure.
