Balgarianovinite.com A major project to modernize the fishing harbor in Tsarevo officially began Monday in the presence of Mayor Marin Kirov, Burgas Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov, MP Galya Vasileva, and members of the local fishing community.
The project, valued at BGN 3.23 million pre-VAT, aims to enhance the unloading, storage, and technical servicing of vessels. It is scheduled for completion by August 2027. Plans include the construction of three specialized metal buildings: a boat repair workshop, a fishing equipment storage facility, and a maintenance shed. Each structure will feature a photovoltaic system on the roof, while the surrounding area will be upgraded with new paving, parking spaces for cars and trailers, and landscaped zones.
Technical upgrades will include the reconstruction of quay walls and the gangway, utilization of previously unused boat slips, installation of a new anchor chain, and delivery of specialized equipment such as telescopic front loaders, ice generators, and freezers for catch storage. A modular fuel bunkering station will also be installed. To improve security, the harbor will be equipped with 38 surveillance cameras and controlled vehicle access. The initiative is funded through Bulgaria’s Maritime Affairs, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Program 2021–2027 and was fast-tracked in 2025 to provide better working conditions for local fishermen while increasing the overall attractiveness of the marina area.
