Balgarianovinite.com The Department of Economy and Tourism of Dubai (DET) has issued an official directive to all hotels: no guests are to be evicted. “If your check-out date arrives but you cannot leave due to cancelled flights and closed airspace, the hotel must allow you to extend your stay under the same conditions as your original booking. If you are unable to cover the cost of the extension and the hotel immediately notifies DET, the state will intervene,” said Nickolay Mladenov, High Representative for the Gaza Strip of the Board of Peace, in a Bulgarian-language post on Facebook on Monday.
Mladenov explained that this aligns with the national decision of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). “[T]he UAE will cover all expenses for accommodation, meals, drinks, and even assistance with rebooking flights for all affected and stranded passengers – whether tourists or transit travellers. More than 20,000 people have already been assisted, housed in hotels with full service. In Abu Dhabi, the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) directly covers the additional nights, while in Dubai this responsibility falls to DET.”
He advised that if you have friends or relatives stranded in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, they should contact their hotel or airline – Etihad or Emirates – directly. “Official channels are key; do not rely on or spread rumours,” the High Representative emphasized.
